Hands off Nigeria

Hey beloved Reader–

By now you've heard, right? Not only is the empire invested in invading Nigeria, but we have a whole cadre of Nigerians begging them to come.

The irony.

This conundrum reminded me of my Black Genius interview with Nigerian multimillionaire Iyinoluwa Aboyeji in which he recounted the story of recruiting for Andela with an online aptitude test.

The host of the test told him that Nigerian brains were "melting" their servers because the IQs were off the charts.

The smartest people in the world? I'm biased enough to agree. But what type of intelligence are we talking about here?

If you have people from the same country begging for foreign invasion to save them, you really have to question their intelligence.

The truth is most Nigerians have good IQs, but terrible HQs.

HQ is a term I created today: Historicity Quotient. It speaks to the intelligence that comes from understanding history.

Apparently, a lot of scholars have engaged this question. Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o and Cheikh Anta Diop described a "historical literacy of the oppressed" as being essential to Liberation. Non-Black scholars have said the same thing, if you need that kind of validation ;)

In the US, the teaching of history has been warped. In Nigeria, it's been nearly erased. This is why, if you're Black American, you've probably been aghast once or twice, wondering how Nigerians or other Africans could land on these shores and look down on Black Americans.

Nobody taught them the history.

I spent some of today debating on LinkedIn with a Yale alum who is in the cadre of folks begging Trump to invade Nigeria. There are no words for the level of disheartening disappointment this reality presents, but it's really no surprise.

I continue to have hope due to people like Nigerian National Treasure David Hundeyin, some of our guests for NOIR FEST, and our partners–like Global Venture Partners and Dumele. Much more to come on those.

To better understand the empire's motives–and why any Nigerian begging for a US invasion should literally be arrested for treason–PLEASE watch this video.

To be in community with folks with sense, GET YOUR TICKETS to NOIR FEST. We'll be discussing these things and much more. You literally don't want to miss it. Full lineup to be released soon, at which point, ticket prices will increase.

NOIR FEST may be your last time to catch me on these shores for a while, so come through with love and hugs ;)

To volunteer or to sponsor, or if you have questions, please reply to this email.

With love and conviction that we will soon be free,

Olori Lolade
